The Poles and Baltic people were pagans who the Catholic pope declared a crusade against and created the Teutonic knights to do the job. The Poles converted to the Catholic faith to end those raids and live in peace.

The Poles were treated better under the Russians than they were under the Germans who ruled them and as a non-Slav I don’t get why the fixation is on how the Russians treated the Poles.

The The Kingdom of Poland largely re-emerged as a result of the efforts of Adam Jerzy Czartoryski, a Pole who aimed to resurrect the Polish state in alliance with Russia.
