In elections past, I shook my head at the almost fetishistic level of importance placed upon proving to voters that one is a good, devout Christian. Now? It’s gone past being simply tacky and straight into “scary shit” territory.

I recently read a novel where the plot involved a wackopath Rapture-believing cult leader wanting to set off a dirty bomb in order to precipitate said event. It got me thinking that, if there’s anyone you want as far away from the Presidency as possible, it’s a Biblical literalist end-times type.
