It was clearly a mainstream belief among Democrats that the 2000 election was “stolen”. Only the kooks believed that 2004 was stolen too.

Out and out trooferism was never mainstreamed beyond far left kooks and tin foil hat wearing libertarians, but a lot of the average democrats on the street were “open minded” to the idea, and stated things like, “I don’t believe it was an inside job BUT… (insert some claim of not being told the whole truth here).”

Just about everyone to the left of Reagan that I knew (which is about everyone I know save about 5 people), fell into both of these categories so I think your claims that asinine BDS was not “mainstream” fall short.
