Nothing is so annoying to sane people who live in the real world as a self-righteous Ivory Tower type.

She actually addressed the charge of “elitism” on the show - by saying that back in the “good old days” (before nasty modern innovations like roads, trains, and vastly expanded international trade), everybody was a locavore.

Unfortunately for many, many people, that meant a diet of turnips and potatoes, with an occasional eel from the canal or a poached rabbit.

I’m all for the local farmer’s market, but I damned well don’t want to be condemned to drink the piss that passes for wine in Maryland.
