re: #507 Haverwilde
I grew up in a University town. Most ‘minorities’ in town were on student visas from around the world. So I observed, and learned.
In third grade Sunday School at the Baptist church we had a new teacher. He was black. I sat with him in church that day. At the end of the service I innocently asked him “What country are you from?” He answered very seriously, “I am from a strange country, a long way from here. It is called South Carolina.”
Heh. I once had an Asian co-worker. I asked what country he was from. He said, “from the South.” I asked, “South Korea or South Vietnam?”
He said, “South Carolina!”
