What seems bizarre to me is that we use democracy to impose the basic rule that any drug that people enjoy using is outlawed and its use is treated as a serious crime.

What’s the reasoning? Life is too long, too enjoyable, and too painless?

Shrug, if it were up to me, I’d legalize all drugs. It’s an honestly radical position but I have for a long time been bewildered by a standard that allows not merely for the legalization of alcohol and tobacco but also their mass commercialization while at the same time makes users of things such as marijuana illegal. If heroin were to be legalized tomorrow, I wouldn’t use it. Probably wouldn’t rush to use ecstasy either but I do believe in that freedom of choice.
