Then LBJ/Dems grabbed the civil rights baton, got the bills passed that meant they’d foreever get all the credit and no R was going to get any votes out of a “me-too”, so he did a 180 and went with the southern strategy in 68. But Affirmative Action was his administration’s initiative.
