To evaluate the risk, we must scale it against the alternatives to move that much oil right? The Alaska pipeline seems to be a success. Spills happened, and got cleaned up. Damage happened, and it got fixed. Maybe it would be fair to compare the site of a pipeline spill and the Exxon Valdez spill. Would trucks or ships be safer? that’s the data we need to look at this fairly.

No, stepping up our knowledge and production of alternative forms of energy would be best.

It’s time to retire oil, not encourage more plundering.
