I live in the Bible Belt. That’s like mithradatism for nutty apocalyptic ideas. Around here it’s mostly the Left Behind model, where you have to read the Book of Revelations with a Captain Midnight decoder ring, a JBS pamphlet, and possibly that light-reflecting talisman from Raiders of the Lost Ark.

And a hit of acid makes it even more scarier.
