Well, speaking as a gun owner who has firearms representing most of American history…I will be far more concerned about somebody with a Kalashnikov then I would about someone with, say, a Brown Bess musket. That actual point was made in a tv ad last summer.

The other thing is that what firearm was used will then determine which set of talking points are trotted out by the usual suspects on the left and right none of whom have any interest in changing things because both sides can rake in the contributions better this way.
