Sexual orientation and sex with kids (let’s go with under 18 since we don’t know at this point) are far, far points on a continuum.

I think what it’s going to come down to is what he was being blackmailed for and whether or not it was itself a crime (and any potential statutes of limitations). Whatever he was trying to hide, he felt it serious enough (even if only in his mind) that he was going to fork over $3.5 million to keep it hidden.
