China and North Korea knew this. That’s why they rushed to identify this concession and tout it before anyone else could respond. Now, if Trump says that he didn’t mean it, then he’s seen as a liar, and NK gets the high ground.

There are no good outcomes here for the US.

Trump ceded more leverage and power to NK and got nothing in return.
