Time for the new bumper sticker- better active on Iran today than radioactive tomorrow.

There is some defense against cruise missiles; there is even work being done to detect stealthy cruise missiles. (Some of the airborne radar systems whose names I don’t remember are being given this capability, but those aren’t ready)

The regular ones can be shot down with antiaircraft weapons, IF you know to look for them.

But I wouldn’t count on all this; the best thing to do is stop Iran first.

And if Iran does get nuclear weapons, 0bama will have to share the blame with Bush, Rice, Gates, and Olmert, along with Russia and China.

I still think that the US should have pushed for the ability for anyone Iran nukes to get compensation from those entities that enabled Iran to get the bomb. And if, for example, Russia fought that idea, we could point out that if they really believe the Iranian nuclear program is peaceful, they have nothing to worry about, and if do believe Iran is developing weapons, they are a legitimate target for nuclear retaliation.
