Because, genius, every other organization with a wanking great list of all the noble things they’re for has historically proven to be just as full of skulking hypocrites as the Scouts. I happen to be a Catholic, so it may come as a shock to you that I’d bring the priest sex scandals into the discussion. But there you have it.

You’re welcome to believe that nothing of the kind ever goes on where it hasn’t been documented, or that if something bad is going on it’s sure to come out eventually. My personal knowledge of human nature leads me to conclude that documented incidents represent a mere sliver of the total pie. And that would go for Abu Ghraib, too. The ones dumb enough to sext themselves to their friends got caught. That tells me that for every dumbass abuser there were twenty-seven cleverer ones who got clean away.

Then I guess we should all become members of Greedy, Self-centered Assholes for Satan, then? At least, in that case, we could be sure that we weren’t acting in conflict with our organization’s ideals.
