Normally with a Bristol Palin story the unintentional comedy comes from the Palins. But this time a E!writer gets into the act with a writing gaffe as silly as Bristol’s mother (The gaffe is bolded):

Bristol Palin is firing back at her haters, literally.

The 24-year-old reality star, who is currently expecting her second child, took to Instagram today in an effort to prove she’s ignoring the pregnancy backlash—and it’s safe to say shots have been fired.

Posting a pic of herself holding a shotgun rifle, the daughter of Sarah Palin captioned the image with a bible verse which read, “She is clothed with strength and dignity; she can laugh at the days to come. Proverbs 31:25.”

“Shotgun rifle”, when the firearm is obviously just a shotgun. I know entertainment reporters don’t know much about guns, but this goof just seems especially dumb to me.

Of course, let’s remember that the type of gun isn’t really the point. When Palins strike a pose with firearms, most often the gun is really just their version of flashing a gang sign, showing they belong to the “Gun Owning Rural Patriots Faction”.
