re: #731 avanti
Once flew on a military hop and asked if they had anything to read and a crew member handed me the airframe manual for the plane, only slightly more entertaining then a phone book.
My more pleasant story kinda sorta almost along the same lines: I was returning from Providence, RI from a business trip back in the early 90s. Short hop flight, small plane to LaGuardia. About 1/3 of the plane was occupied with… models, who were apparently returning from some photo shoot.
At one point, I asked the flight attendant if she had any newspapers, since all I had was work material to read, and was bored with it. She said, sorry, no, on planes this small we don’t stock newspapers. A minute later, she tapped me on the shoulder, and said “the young lady behind you overheard, and said you can have her newspaper”. I look back, and there, giving me a little wave and smile, was then-Sports Illustrated Swimsuit Model Roshumba Williams.
