And this is why I’ve stayed with my current company. I get paid less than market rates, but the corporate culture is way different. My boss isn’t my enemy, he’s a coworker who has seniority. I’m not a peon, I’m a person with valuable skills. Also, the benefits are excellent and the aforementioned PTO policy is unheard of.

There are a lot of good workplaces. But our popular culture seems to treat them as oases in a desert of pointy-headed bosses, The Office, and Jobs From HELL. Plus Walmart.
