The famine is honestly one of the biggest tragedies in modern history. Ireland I think has only or perhaps has yet to regain its population pre-famine levels. It’s sad that the tale of the Irish is often of leaving Ireland. I know not the circumstances that inspired my ancestors to emigrate but I imagine the Famine and its consequences played a big part.

It was out and out genocide brought on by profit. But it always pains me to see the descendants of these oppressed people, victims of a horrible class system, mouthing off about about others who have been oppressed not only because of class, but because of the color of their skin.
