He shouldn’t have inserted himself into the negotiations unless it was in good faith, which it was anything but.
He wanted to show he was a hardliner and bust a union, no matter the consequences.
But go ahead and keep believing Reagan had the the safety of the American public in mind.
Then why did the Reagan administration negotiate what observers of the time thought was a generous deal with PATCO?
And moreover, since I’ve already brought up the house Democratic investigation into an endorsement quid pro quo, why would the Reagan Administration target a union that had endorsed Reagan?
