I don’t think Nader is a veteran but you’re right about McGovern.

Nader served in the peacetime army in the 1950s.

One of his favorite stories involved his purchase of six dozen pair of GI socks at the PX just before his discharge. He claimed he was still drawing on that stash in the 80s and had bought no other socks in the meantime.
