Catastrophic uncontained N1 fan failure. Rarely happens during cruise phase. Much more common on takeoff/climb-out when the power is up near 100% rated thrust.

Maybe the climb got it most of the way there.

I always get worried when I hear about flights going out of LGA. It’s always a worry that I might know someone on the flight.
