Communism, fascism and theocracy are all variants of collectivist totalitarianism - that’s what they have in common.

Where they differ is in the rationale by means of which they justify state control over individuals.

Communism justifies it in the name of the erasure of class distinctions.

Fascism justifies it in the name of racial purity, supremacy, and exceptionalism.

Various and sundry theocracies justify it in the name of some supposedly divinely revealed scriptural revelation or other.
