Heh, no.

I remember a time when to be a journalist, commentator, or pundit, especially in a written form such as for a magazine, newspaper, or a blog required mastery of a language and the ability to actually write. This position of mine is apparently a quaint holdover from days of yore.

The typos that show up on some of these sites are beyond embarrassing. Even if I didn’t know anything about her, if I stumbled on the site through a search I wouldn’t be able to take it serious just because of that. Having typos in the subject or headlines is totally inexcusable. Far worse than the NYT referring to the “Large Hardon Collider” mid article.

Making typos doesn’t make you stupid. Failing to proofread things that are intended for mass public consumption does.
