re: #72 Idle Drifter

Yup, Schlumberger was a good company to work for before being laid off little of a year ago. Which is why I want to finish a degree in engineering and get back to working for them . They took safety very seriously and every employee had the right to stop production if they felt something was unsafe. 80% of my training was safety oriented. You can’t even drive in your own vehicle going to a rig site without going to their Kellyville Driver Safety center. They had a skid plate for training truck drivers on how to deal with ice while hauling a full load!

Exactly.
The Roi has told me time and again that he can stop operations, with the full backing of his company, if he knows things are dangerous.

He’s got to take driver safety courses, and a helicopter bail-out course every year (he’s in a helicopter, it’s turned upside down, plunged into a pool of water, and everybody has to get out while in this position). Not fun. But absolutely necessary.
