Except that what people do is they don’t call it explicitly. Its still the same intent and the same fallacy, just done with a touch of subtlety.

You’re still trying to lessen the perceived fault, or at least get people to defend/argue about whatever you linked.

You can claim you’re not, but that would be what we call in the biz ‘lying’.
