I just don’t understand their priorities. What’s darkly humorous to me is that right wing Republicans are the first to call for cuts in things like transportation, education, etc but they’re the first you hear whining about the quality of said things. It’s true. Money and funding doesn’t solve everything but it’s better than cutting funding and doing nothing.

Well, sadly it’s often not just the right-wing GOP. I know that, a couple of years ago, the NY Times had a series on the sad shape of the country’s water infrastructure and mentioned how everyone would complain when a water main would break, but if it was suggested to them that they pay a few cents/dollars more a month so that there would resources to repair and replace the stuff that needed work, people were outraged. I think the country as a whole has largely fallen into a something for nothing mindset.
