But after that, Oilers either sucked or found creative ways to lose. The worst was the 1991 playoff game against the Bills. Oilers were up 35-3 in the 2nd half, then found a way to lose. It was the biggest 2nd half collapse in NFL history, playoffs or regular season. That soured the fans on the team so much that there was barely any outrage when they moved to Tennessee.

I was living in Houston when that game happened. Watched it happen, too. I knew people who had turned the game off at halftime figuring it was a done deal only to find out the team lost later. Man, they were pissed.

I mean, people hated Bud Adams to begin with because he was an asshole. The Oilers losing that game just made it worse. By the time it got to the point where he threatened to move the team if he didn’t get money for additional renovations to the Astrodome, people were offering to help them pack up and leave.
