He ran as the anti-politician at a time when people were particularly fed up with politicians and politics as usual

He had no record of public service at a time when any sort of record was a liability

He could and did promise whatever he thought his target audience wanted to hear, in the most vague and hyperbolic terms

And in 2020, Trump will claim that he’s delivered on all of those promises.

The reality?

He’s failed to build any new wall. The immigration crisis continues to worsen thanks to Trump’s policies. The economy continues to putter along despite Trump’s efforts to undermine it through trade wars that have damaged his base (and some of them are beginning to realize it even with the bailout to farmers).

But the media will first state Trump lies without any of that context, and it will put any Democrat at an immediate disadvantage (and because media will magic balance fairy the fuck out of things to try and show how Democrats are no different from Trump and the GOP).
