I applaud your efforts to clear the air IRT global warming, climate change, or whatever it’s being called these days. With that being said, I think your efforts, while valiant, are largely falling on deaf ears. It isn’t that the “science” isn’t behind you; anyone who does an iota of research knows that the earth is warming and has been for quite some time. It isn’t that your arguments aren’t well reasoned or well cited; you clearly stay on topic and don’t rant an rave like a lunatic. The problem with this issue is that there has been the “appearance” or “perception” of scientific impropriety which has been trumped up by the talking heads (Rush Limbaugh, Sean Hannity, Glenn Beck, etc.). We live in a world where perception is reality. Unfortunately, many people do not want to take the time or put in the effort needed to properly educate themselves on any issue. They would rather let someone else do all the thinking for them and then press the “I believe” button and call it a day. As much as it sucks, I don’t think this attitude towards science or important issues is going away anytime soon. So it doesn’t matter if there is irrefutable scientific proof that the earth is going to be 100 degrees Celsius in 50 years or whatever the prediction; people don’t give a s*** because someone has told them not to. Present company excluded, we live in a world of morons, the likes of which are easily swayed by Rush, Sean and Glenn. The only real solution to this intelligence problem is to convince the populace one person at a time. Thank you for fighting the good fight and helping the cause. I applaud your persistence and maybe that is all we need; a start.
