Those of you who are in the business, what’s this I hear about Russian scientists, as a whole, going against AGW? Scientific American has hinted at it a few times, then there’s THIS STEAMING BUCKET OF IRONY where climate scientists who want to disprove global warming had to cut their work short by ice melting too soon.

It reminds me of the old Soviet days when our and their scientific communities did not communicate much and went out of their way to get into warring camps, even in the hard-ish sciences. For years, decadent Western scientists thought oil came from living things and the Soviets were loyal to the ‘abiotic’ theory. Even now some data is a little confouding/contradictory/interesting on that question. Behold the power of Groupthink!
