My pipe dream: A lucrative amnesty for hand guns, and I mean lucrative. Then fingerprint/high tech gun. Only owner can fire. Not thief of gun, or child of gun owner.

That technology doesn’t really exist though. The magna trigger only works with Smith and Wesson revolvers and isn’t specific to the owner, any magnet will disengage the safety.

Anyway handguns are responsible for more than 80% of every type of firearms crime. Going through an extensive ATF background check and requiring a $200 tax stamp per transfer would go a long way towards cracking down on the real problem.
