But Ludwig… and this is all I will say on the subject… you didn’t mention one huge thing: nazis exterminated millions of people. In horrible, excruciating ways. Tried to wipe out an entire human section. That is what people think of when they hear the word ’ nazi’. And you just cannot equate that horror with any political party in America today.

If the economy takes a nosedive, and the teabag meme becomes the dominant meme in this nation, do you really think they won’t round up political opponents (who are now terrorists of course), suspected socialists, gays, or brown people?

I have said many times we are not there yet. I don’t want it to get there. I understand that when people think of the Nazis, they think of the full blown horror. What they don’t think of enough is the process through which that full blown horror took root and gained the capacity to be a horror. We are in the early stages of that now with this movement.
