In any case, as far as my own sympathies toward the various players in the Balkans go, I’m not worried: Kosovo got its independence, and I’m glad to see the Kosovars’ dream of not living under Serbia’ thumb. The U.S. recognized their independence, as did most countries whose recognition is worth a damn in the international arena. That ship has sailed.

What I am worried about is not the Serbian lobby’s ability to reverse U.S. policy toward Albanians/Kosovars, but rather its debilitating effect on right-wing politics. Anyone who gets in bed with them has sealed their own political fate. Perhaps they are performing a service though, weeding out all the crazies by association.
