In the Now-I-Feel-Old category, I just read the news about MacUser going the way of MacWorld - to the magazine graveyard.

I remember when they were new.

We are very far along the path now to total impermanence - the absence of a printed document trail.

Sure, the utopians like to believe that our digital data will last forever, but I think it is more likely that entropy will work on the collective human digital enterprise as it does everything else in the universe, and bits and pieces will be lost, then a major server-farm failure here or there will totally wipe out civilization.

OTOH, we’ve still got (literal) tons of receipts for baskets of grain, filed on clay tablets.
