As I said a few days ago, this is the same playbook from guns and climate change. Deny it exists, silence the warnings, then when the problem becomes undeniable, shift to trying to convince people that the casualties and consequences are acceptable.

This playbook has worked every time in recent history. Americans accept gun deaths. Americans accept climate change catastrophes. It is entirely possible they will also accept pandemic deaths.
