OK, if they started very early in the morning, it would take longer to regain control from twitter.

7-8 hours from early AM EST on a long weekend.. is not “all night and most of the morning”, and in my mind very understandable.

It seems sloppy to me, especially since I’m guessing they must have seen a spike in viewers when the news started coming around. But the hackers chose very wisely—Sunday night, on a three-day weekend? And I can easily see the people left to mind the shop not quite knowing what to do, and not being able to get anyone on the phone.
