It’s just that I’m a bit jaded about articles/books/films from the perspective of Saudi/other repressed Middle Eastern females. They always try so painfully hard to paint the situation in a positive light, often claiming that it’s simply an Islamic variant of feminism. For example: the veil is actually liberating, and prevents rape and sexual assault e.t.c.
