When I got my Tommy E tickets, since I was going to actually print them out myself, they couldn’t really charge me a postage and handling fee, or a service charge for will-call. Not to worry, they just made up a “Convenience Fee” and tacked it on. Come on…. you’re not even trying to hide the greed any more.

Universities charge “student activity” fees, too. That bothered me back when I was a grad student, because I was paying for something I wasn’t using. I lived off campus and was working part-time. I had no time to use the student activity center.
But it helped keep the tuition charge “low,” I suppose.
Banks are notorious for charging fees for everything now. It’s one of their main sources of income.
