I am extremely, extremely surprised. Still wondering what they might pull on appeal or sentencing, but incredibly surprised.

I would expect sentencing to be right around average. They’ll undoubtedly try to offset the viciousness of his crimes with the fact that he was a police officer (even if he was a shitty one who had been reported, but never disciplined, numerous times). Appeals will definitely be interesting, and I’m sure Congresswoman Waters will be brought up, and that’s what I’m most anxious about, as a non-legal expert.
