I think Obama was a bit naive when he took office. His promise to negotiate with Iran is an example.

Those days are long past, though.

I disagree with the myth that he was “naive” (beyond the obvious aspect of not knowing what it’s like to do something until you do it that we all experience everyday). I think that was cooked up by people who desperately needed to believe (or others to believe) he was terrible before he was elected, and then when his actions belied his haters words, they tried to cover their ass by saying he “was terrible but got better”.

Admitting one is wrong hurts one’s pride and the “the President was naive but got better” myth is an attempt to avoid that pain.
