I find this observation interesting, because it harmonizes with a long-standing observation I have about US “conservatism”: that it doesn’t care about consent, or simply doesn’t understand the concept.

It’s the basis of their whole understanding of the unified depravity of “bad” sexuality, but it’s also their out whenever one of them does something ugly.
