You oughta try being a Hebrew. We got Torah, we got the Prophets, we got the Writings (all together, your Old Testament). Then we got Mishna, Talmud, Haggadah, Halakhic literature, Midrash, etc., etc. You sort of swim around in this stuff and can quote and bring it to bear, but you can’t remember where you read it.

Which is, if I remember my Ezra Pound (a vicious bigot and a great mind) the very definition of culture.
