Wingnut logic: if Hagel can’t prove he didn’t receive donations from them, then it’s Hagel’s fault and he should be presumed guilty.

That’s exactly what Sen. Cruz implied at the SASC the other day:

Saying that he had serious doubts about the source of payments that Mr. Hagel had accepted for speaking engagements, Mr. Cruz declared, “It is at a minimum relevant to know if that $200,000 that he deposited in his bank account came directly from Saudi Arabia, came directly from North Korea.”

Essentially, “we just can’t be sure whether or not fmr. Senator Hagel is not an agent of a foreign gov’t!”
