I’m thinking more of the Hostel flicks, which Iceweasel has called torture porn. Roth uses blood and guts for no reason sometimes other than to do it. However, he is clearly not like these creeps. He actually understands that real evil does exist and its not something to glorify. These two also market their films as message movies, which Roth does not do.

The reason Eli Roth does it it is he likes the storytelling, that’s his art, blood and guts is the medium, there you go. Like death metal. To a lot of people it’s just blast beats and screaming and it has no point. But it’s music to me, therefore that’s its point.
