Just returned from the Colorado Springs Tea Party, where they talked from 11 to about 2. During lunch I was told the park(a block square) was jammed with people. I’m not too sure at times who a kook is supposed to be, but I saw two college kids(CSU is up the street) claiming everyone was Republicans and getting laughed at, One guy with a “Don’t blame me I voted for Ron Paul” sign, and three anarchists that I finally saw on the steps at city hall after folks walked over from the park. While I was there there was easily 1-3 thousand people and if the park was full during lunch then possibly 5-10 thousand people attended.

I know for sure channel 11 was there as I walked by the cameraman. Not sure about the other local stations.

While in front of city hall, there were a few hundred that made the 1 block walk and they were getting lots of cars honking their horns as they drove by.

If this is co-opting and taking over by fringe groups, then I appear to be in fine company.
