Actually, keeping in frame with my train of thought, I want to share a story.

When I was studying in Jerusalem, I was sitting at Bonkers Bagels in the Old City. Not to make an add, but if you know the Jewish Quarter, you know where I was.

Along came a troop of Israeli, female soldiers. They were marching without a cadence. And it wasn’t a parade march, rather it was the kind of casual cohesion in a unit that anyone with military experience would instantly see as marking these ladies as soldiers. They broke ranks to get some food.

They were very beautiful, and I got into a conversation with some of them.
When they found out what I do (theoretical physics) they said “get Rivkah!”

Along comes Rivkah, and we had a delightful conversation about General Relativity, the Riemann sphere projection and how it relates to a certain Kabbalistic picture of G-d, and her future plans.

As I was talking with these ladies, I did my best to overcome the most profound shame that, I was not the one carrying the rifle. I was going to go back to the Yeshivah and learn Tracate Sanhedrin. They were going on patrol to keep my American ass safe.

I thought to myself. Here are young women who can field strip an M-16 blindfolded. They are going to go on to be Doctors and Lawyers and Physicists. They will be mothers and they have the courage to defend their nation. I thought, American feminist, look upon this and tremble. You think vagina monologues are tough.
