A forty minute drive would get me most of the way to Wyoming. (I’d still be out in the middle of nowhere, but it would be a different nowhere.)

Forty minutes east of here is downtown (whether Minneapolis or St. Paul depends on the traffic level). Forty minutes in any other direction is bum-fuck middle of nowhere. We are right on the edge of civilization.
