It represents a weird dichotomy: Man has dominion over his world from the concept of war or farming (over other men, his land, women, children) but has no control over god’s dominion, the world as a whole.

Accepting environmentalism as necessary or climate change as being real means we have dominion over what was perceived to be gods dominion. And that freaks them out.

And yet, in the OT, God tells us to be stewards of the Earth, which would suggest he wants us to take care of it for Him (presumably while he’s on vacay golfing with Krishna on Epsilon Eridani IV).
