those of us who lived a long time in the last century remember the inescapable songs of the 60s like this, and strangers in the night, and sam and janet evening, & etc which would track you down no matter how hard you tried to evade them and which no amount of therapy can erase

With me none of those were really from my generation (I’m a ’70s child), but my dad was almost 20 years older than my mom, so he was closer to being from my grandparent’s generation (as was the music he liked). Add to that a bunch of (much older) half-siblings, and all that old stuff is very familiar to me.
