Morning!

Not having a manual transmission is going to be one of the things that is going to bum me out about the future of electric cars.

That is why I hope for clean fuels and internal combustion engines to go some time yet.

I’ve driven manual trans cars (VWs) since 1983. If I have to drive an automatic these days I sometimes do not know what to do with my feet and hands. I feel like I don’t have any control.

I had automatic trans cars for the first two decades of my driving life. While a roommate taught me to drive his Honda Accord, it was another decade before I bought a car of my own with a manual trans. (A very used BMW 2002 was the first, followed by a Volvo wagon and then a Honda Civic.) I don’t have any preference, really. A stick shift can be fun (zoom - zoom) but at times it’s a pain in the neck. And autos now are as fuel efficient or even better than sticks.
